Though perhaps not as immediately mirthsome as some of her earlier contributions, it is as always the witty captions which upgrade your intitial grin to a belly laugh. The paintings are as detailed and packed with beautifully observed realisms as you'd expect, though this time the setting is Bristol rather than Beryl's traditional Plymouth stamping ground.
Beryl's perfect blend of the subtle and the obvious in her depictions never fails to brighten up your day, and this book, though you can read it all in ten minutes, is one which you will pick up and chuckle over time and time again.
